The Fynderne Family
William Fynderne - Sir Robert Synbourne
My page on William Fynderne was getting impressions and even some hits. The interest could be the connection to Belchamp Walter but more likely the Horkesley/Marney connection.
So far I can only find a family tree that features Thomas Fynderne (on a tree from the Visitations of Essex on which I found the Sir Robert Swynbourne entry). Digging deeper I see that there is information on WikiTree for the Marneys and Fyndern. The Berners family and Amberden (Aberden) Hall are also found. I am sure with a bit more digging I can string a little more together.
I must admit that I am getting a little tired of the endless quest to build family trees!
The escheator was the local official responsible for 'escheats', that is broadly speaking for upholding the king's rights as feudal lord, and for holding the majority of IPMs.
I can't seem to find out much about Nicholas Berners. I think that he was from Finchingfield but searches just lead back to me. Aberden Hall. I think that all this comes from Thomas Wright as he is cited as a source for Katherine (Berners) Fyndern.

Katherine (Berners) Fyndern
Katherine was the coheir of the Swynbourne estates in Essex. Joan, the widow of Sir Robert Swynbourne, was her grand mother.
The text below was copied from the WikiTree profile - it seems to be taken from a chirch guide or it could be from Thomas Wright.
Katherine was born about 1410.
She was the daughter of Nicholas Berners and his wife Margery Swinburne.
“Sir Thomas Swynbourne, who was much employed in the wars in France, was major-general of Bordeaux, and captain and constable of the castle of Fronsac, in Guienne. He died in 1412, and, with his father, is buried in this church.
On his death, the male line of the family seems to have ended, and the estates being divided, this became the property of Margery, wife of Nicholas Berners, Esq. of Amberden Hall, in Debden.
He died in 1441, and left an only daughter, Catherine, married to Sir William Fynderne, who, dying in 1462, was succeeded by his son, Sir William Fynderne, on whose death, in 1515, his grandson Thomas became his heir.
He married Brigitta, daughter of Sir William Waldegrave. On his death, in 1523, Anne, wife of Sir Roger Wentworth, of Gosfield, succeeded to this estate.
She was the daughter and heiress of Humphrey Tyrrell, Esq. of Warley, by Isabel, daughter and co-heiress, and ultimately sole heiress, of John Helion, Esq., whose mother Alice, was one of the sisters and co-heiresses of Sir Thomas Swinbourne, and brought an immense estate to the Wentworth family. “ [1]
See Will of Sir William Fyndern.
The writing style is similar to that of Thomas Wright. The names sort of match but I was unaware of a Thomas Swynbourne. Tyrrell and Helion also agree with what I had found in the past.
