Stafford Allen & Sons
On the road North from Liston Church you will find a factory complex that apparently is in the middle of nowhere. This is the former Stafford Allen & Sons/Bush Boake Allen plant (a.k.a. Boakes and Stafford Park).

The photographs hosted on Flickr are really interesting - a pity that their platform has so many advertisements.
The road between Liston and Pentlow Street is the location of the former industrial site. There have been many proposals for the re-development of the site, notably a housing estate. It is currently rented to a number of businesses inlcuding Rodbridge Car Centre which used to be located at Rodbridge (now the Nethergates brewery and restaurant )
The estate is on the low-lying land close to the River Stour. At the presnt time the access to the site is via a very small road north from Liston and Rodbridge. If the site were to be re-developed an access from the A1092 would probably be needed. The A1092 was the location of the former Philips Avent factory in Glemsford, Suffolk.
Many interesting buildings still stand on the site and they may well be worth preserving as a museum to past industrial heritage.
The proximity to Long Melford and Sudbury, Suffolk make the site an attactive site for development. However, there is and has been in the past, a large measure of "not in my backyard" sentiment.
