This is a further investigation into the operation of the Google indexing proceedure. It is not an attempt to "beat" the algorithm, as this is likely to change if Google detect that there are attempts to fool it.

Unlike other SEOs I do believe that Google are trying to provide the best user experience and not just trying to keep SEO companies gaining an unfair advantage.

What is actually in the Google Index

The question is what is in the Google Index? When a URL is checked in Search Console or when Googlebot looks to make a re-index it looks to see what has been indexed. It now appears that the content of the page is compared to what is on other pages on your website. This is then used to determine a Canonical linkage.

This would suggest to me that the page needs to be removed from the index before the new one is indexed.
