Recording iPlayer Content

The BBC have made many changes to the iPlayer platform that you can access online in 2023. If you want to record this content so that you can keep it indefinitely, and the BBC do not want you to do this!, the programs such as get_iplayer are NOT the answer.

I have spent many hours researching and tweeking around Get_iPlayer, using TOR to allow me to access GEO-resistricted content in the UK from Canada. I found that I could get Get_iPlayer to work when I was using TOR having worked out that I could select "exit servers" in the UK.

Finding TOR too slow I succumbed to using a VPN with Get_iPlayer to record BBC programming. Since that time, c. 2012, many this have changed with media streaming and much of what I was looking at in the past is mearly of historical interest.
