The WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool was mentioned on the gov.uk website in a section called: "Doing a basic accessibility check if you cannot do a detailed one"

Other tools

Making an Internet search there are many companies offering this service. This is no surprise as Accessibility is made out to be one of the aspects of web design that is far too difficult for mere mortals.

I have seen Siteimprove mentioned on a couple of occasions but unkike Wave I think that for a full audit you would have to pay for the privilege.

Using the Wave Accessibility tool

My pages have been tested using the Wave Accessibilty Tool and there were a few issues revealed. The main issue was one with a percieved hidden control. This was reported by the tool as a device dependant handler, which I guess it is but the control in question while not seen by a non-mobile device it is only relevant to a mobile device.
